Dr Laura Couston
Gender: Female
Primary qualifications: Edinburgh 2010 MBChB MRCGP
About me
I graduated from University of Edinburgh Medical School in 2010. I went on to complete my foundation training years in Glasgow, before returning east to enter GP specialty training within South East Scotland in 2012. I carried out my training within Harbours Medical Practice, and was invited to join the practice as a salaried GP immediately after completing training in 2016. I feel privileged to have “graduated” overnight from trainee to fully fledged GP, as part of the same team that have formed me as a GP over the years, and this has allowed me to carry on seeing some of the same patients I had come to know during training.
I particularly enjoy the variety that being a GP brings - from the simple consultations to the very complex, and being able to get to know patients when they are relatively well, in addition to helping to provide care in times of greater need.
Outside of work I enjoy walking, crafting, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and baking - though there has been less time allowed for these with the recent addition to our family!
Dr Couston is currently on maternity leave.
Usual days in the practice: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
